Studio Forma is a Mumbai-based architecture and interior design practice founded in 2024. The studio creates refined residential, commercial, and cultural spaces through a careful balance of proportion, materiality, light, and lived experience.
We believe good design is not about decoration or excess, but about creating atmosphere. Every project begins with understanding how people move, pause, gather, work, and feel within a space. From there, we shape interiors that are calm, intentional, functional, and emotionally resonant.
Our approach is detail-driven and highly contextual. We work closely across concept, planning, material selection, design development, and execution coordination to ensure that every space feels cohesive, timeless, and deeply personal.
At Studio Forma, we believe thoughtful design begins with understanding people — how they live, work, gather, and experience a space. Every project is approached as a unique response to its context, aspirations, and purpose, resulting in environments that feel personal, intuitive, and enduring. Through a careful balance of aesthetics, functionality, and spatial clarity, we create spaces that elevate everyday experiences while maintaining a timeless sense of character.
Our work integrates architecture, interiors, materiality, and detail into a cohesive design language. From the earliest concept through to execution, we focus on proportion, light, texture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere to shape spaces that are both refined and practical. Whether designing a residence, workplace, or commercial environment, our goal is to create meaningful spaces that feel authentic, beautifully resolved, and lasting in their impact.
Spatial planning, detailing, and atmosphere shaped into one coherent experience.
Homes designed around lifestyle, light, movement, privacy, and emotional comfort.
Refined spaces for work, hospitality, retail, and client-facing environments.
Mood, zoning, material language, visual direction, and experience narrative.
Drawings, finishes, specifications, coordination, and execution-ready packages.
Furniture, lighting, textures, art, accessories, and final atmosphere composition.
Vendor coordination, site supervision, and execution support throughout.
We begin by listening — deeply. Understanding not just what you want, but how you live, and what the space needs to feel like.
A single governing idea emerges. This becomes the compass — every decision measured against this core.
Space is choreographed — how you move through it, how light follows you, how silence is shaped.
Every surface, texture, and finish chosen for beauty and longevity — with the care a jeweller gives stone.
We stay close throughout. Great intentions are either kept or quietly lost on site. We keep them.

A short guide to how we work — five stages, the questions we ask early on, and what to expect month by month.
Principal Architect
Soumya’s approach to design is rooted in the belief that architecture should be experienced through feeling — through light, movement, texture, atmosphere, and the quiet relationship between people and space. Her work combines contemporary minimalism with warmth, material richness, and cinematic spatial composition.
Every project starts with a conversation, not a checklist. Tell us a little about your space — we'll take it from there.

Questions
We begin by understanding how you actually live, not just what you say you like. That leads to a clear design brief, then room-by-room development, then procurement and execution — five stages in total, each one checked against the same core idea so the finished home feels coherent, not assembled. Our full process guide walks through this in more detail.
Most projects move through discovery and brief in the first month, design development over the following one to two months, then procurement and execution from month three onward. Exact timelines depend on the scope and size of the space, and we confirm specifics once we understand your project.
Cost depends entirely on the scope, scale, and material choices for your specific project. We discuss budget openly in our first conversation, rather than working from a fixed price list — a single room and a full home renovation are simply not comparable.
Mumbai is home base, but design doesn't stop at a pin code. If the brief is right, we'll happily follow it — across the country, or wherever the next room that needs to feel like someone actually lives in it happens to be.
Both. We manage sourcing, vendor coordination, and installation ourselves, so the finished space matches the original brief rather than drifting during execution.
Most studios start with a moodboard. We start by trying to understand who you actually are — how you live, what settles you, what your current home has failed to give you — before a single material decision gets made. It's slower at the start and more precise by the end.
Yours. We don't have a signature look we repeat across projects. The design direction comes from you — we just do the work of translating it properly.
As involved as you want to be. Most clients are closely involved in the early brief and design stages, then check in at key milestones during execution rather than managing day-to-day decisions.
A conversation — no checklist, no commitment. Reach out through the site and we'll take it from there.
